The marks (60) will be broken down as follows:

- Comparison & Contrast of Features (20)
- Range of images and annotations (10)
- Sketches (min 2) (5)
- Your photos (min 3) (5)
- Correct submission (5)
Submit by sending Mr Bates an email with the subject line "Output 2 Project" and a single PowerPoint file or Google Drive containing 2 x A3 slides as an attachment. The filename should be "(Yourname) - Ouput 2", for example: Andrew Bates - Output 2.

Solidworks Project You are required to make a whiteboard marker in Solidworks. This will be marked on the leaving cert marking scheme for Output 4 with the exception of factor of difficulty (since you'll be given the object).

The 5th Year DCG assessment will have 3 parts:
- 2 hr written exam (50%)
- 80 minute Solidworks task (20%)
- Coursework (30%)
1. Written Exam - 50%
The written exam will take place during house exams in the week 26th - 30th May. It will be held in Room 6.
The exam will be modeled on the DCG Leaving certificate exam:
All aspects of the DCG core (section B) could be examined and the Surface Geometry option from Section C could be examined.

2. Solidworks Task - 20%
Solidworks skills are crucial for the DCG project next year and will play a big part in your final DCG result in the Leaving Cert. You will be given a part to draw in Solidworks and will have one double class (80 mins) to do this. This test will take place on Thursday 22nd May during normal classtime.
You will be given a real object made up from several parts. You will need to measure the object, create a model of each part and then put the parts together in an assembly.

Important things to consider are:
These are the same issues you'll be marked on in the Leaving Cert so it's worth getting used to them now.
- Accuracy - does your model accurately represent the part given?
- Design intent - are you making your part as simply as possible? Are you using mirroring, patterns, offsets and so on so that the part is easy to modify?
- Relations - are you using relations in your sketches where possible?
- Naming features - all features must be named (not just BossExtrude4)
- Sketches constrained - all your sketches must be constrained (ie, black instead of blue so that all dimensions are defined)
These are the same issues you'll be marked on in the Leaving Cert so it's worth getting used to them now.
3. Coursework - 30%
This is an assessment of classwork and homework done during the final term. Please select your best drawing for each of the following:
All course work must be clearly marked with your name and must be submitted before the 23rd May.
- A Leaving Cert Section B question that includes Conic Sections. (2012 B-1 or 2011 B-3)
- A Leaving Cert Section B question that includes Perspective. (2013 B-3 or 2010 B-1. Note the full question must be submitted)
- A Leaving Cert Section B question that includes Intersection of Solids. (2012 B-2, 2011 B-1, 2009 B-3. q20 p295 may also be submitted.)
All course work must be clearly marked with your name and must be submitted before the 23rd May.

There are no November exams in DCG, all assessment will be based on coursework done between September and November 2013. Details of the what will be assessed for each class are provided below. In all cases, you can submit early for feedback so that you have the opportunity to improve your work. The deadline for final submission is 15th Nov 2013. It is your responsibility to ensure that all work is submitted.
